Best brand for ice cream storage!, July 26, 2014

Tovolo makes the best ice cream containers, these can come apart for washing, they hold up well in the stand alone freezer which is set extremely cold for other frozen items (the ice cream compartment can only hold two of these) , If I fear freezer burn or ice sitting I use stretch tite wrap over the ice cream with certain flavors. I have all the colors with doubles in favorite color they all are consistent with how they keep homemade flavors.

Bought two to use with Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. They have very nice color and I like the fact that they are BPA free. Just remember to put them in the freezer even if they are empty so next time when you use them for storing home-made ice cream, it won’t melt a little in it.

Nice concept, poor execution, June 5, 2014

I’ve been making my own ice cream for a few years now and was looking for something better than using a glass pyrex dish to store my ice cream in. These seemed like they’d work out well, and they had a lot of good reviews, so I purchased two of them.

    Pro’s:
    – Elongated shape makes scooping ice cream very easy
    – Insulated design

    Con’s:
    – The lids make very poor seals with the rest of the container. At best they seem to almost bow upwards in the middle, and at worst they actually won’t stay ‘snapped-in’. Not sure if I got a bad batch of these, but this is a problem because it causes the ice cream to develop freezer burn which is one of the main reasons for purchasing these in the first place.
