This is good rice coocker as this price range.
As I’m Japanese, used to own several rice cookers ever, the taste of rice cooked by this is actually good.
    I’m satisfied whith this purchace.
rice wouln’t get dry or hard after using few hours ”warm” mord.
I recommed not to use warm mord for very long time thought, (it would be dry and hard and lost taste even if you bought hundreds dollars cooker) wrap them and freeze them when you want to keep them best condition.

I always cook 5cups of rice, which is too much for 2 of us to finish at once, so I wrap them into small amount, as much as good for one person to serve (it’s about 200g uasually), and put into freezer to let them frozen.
when you want to eat it, use microwave 90second for each wrap to warm, you will get fresh and tasty rice very quickly and easy!

Effortless & Efficient Cooking with Tiger Rice Cooker!, November 15, 2015

We make rice at home, very frequently and it is a must for me, to have a cooker. I have a stove-top cooker that needs separate attention, making it tough if you are multi-tasking in kitchen. But tiger rice cooker is totally different. It took about 30 minutes for me, to cook two cups of rice and once cooking is done, the cooker changes to ‘Keep Warm’ mode! I literally did nothing other than placing the inner vessel with required amount of water and pressing the button! The ‘Keep Warm’ mode ensures that the meals stays warm until attended.

This rice cooker is perfect to prepare two dishes simultaneously with the synchronized cooking function. This cooker needs very minimal preparation time and with the press of a button you can make delicious meals in no time. Comes with a Non-stick spatula, Spatula-holder, Cooking plate, Measuring cup and a Cookbook, full of easy recipes!

The pressure value can be removed & washed but the lid is fixed. So, you might have to wipe it clean after using the cooker. I also show the lid in running water, that way it gets washed clean. The cooker is light-weight, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Overall, very reasonably priced, elegant-looking, efficient & affordable cooking appliance that everyone of us deserve to have in our kitchen.

I did receive the product at a discounted price in exchange of my honest review. However the opinions expressed here are out of my own experience with the concerned product!

A STEAL for a Tiger rice cooker!, January 24, 2015

I was very skeptical of this Tiger model when I first saw it at Target (for $70) 6 months ago because traditional Tiger rice cookers (such as the JNP-S10U) costs almost 2x as much at Asian grocery stores (for the same size). For those who don’t know, Tiger and Zojirushi are the 2 best brands of rice cooker on the market….I think. The difference with this is that it’s made in China whereas the traditional models (such as the JNP-S10U) is made in Tiger’s homeland of Japan. Whenever I go to the Asian grocery stores, I could never get myself to pay ~$120 for a 5.5-cup rice cooker despite really wanting a nice rice cooker. Avoid the American brands at all cost – yes, they’re cheap, but it doesn’t work well for Jasmine rice (the type that Asian people eat on a daily basis) and their keep-warm function makes your rice smell like glue. I decided to give this a shot because I had the opportunity to get it for $50 shipped new (you CAN’T go wrong with that price considering the JNP-S10U is $120 at the store!!!).

The packaging is done really well – lots of styrofoam padding. The booklets are very nicely printed on high-quality paper – just like products made in Japan. The plastic used for the rice cooker is just as nice as my mom’s Tiger rice cooker that is made in Japan. The thing I noticed right away is that compared to the traditional version, there is no drip “tray” to collect condensation and that the metal element on the underside of the lid is non-removable on this unit (which would make cleaning a little tougher).

For the Asian people reading this, I’m using the “3 Ladies” brand – one of the better Jasmine rice you can get. I followed the exact instructions – filling 2 cups of rice, putting it in the bowl, rinse/cleanse the rice, fill water up to the “2” mark on the bowl, and then press the “Plain” cook button. I was disappointed because the rice was too dry and had a funny aroma. The second time, I decided not to follow instructions and simply eye-balled the water level (because I’ve been cooking rice over the stove for the past 5 years, I’m really good at eye-balling the amount of water). With 2-cups of rice, this time, I filled the water until it reached ~2.3. The rice turned out perfect – fluffy, and had that nice aroma! My point is, don’t take the instructions like they’re written on a Rosetta Stone. The booklet tells you not to deviate from the instructions. In addition to the type of rice you’re using, it also depends on the brand of rice you use (most Asian people already know this) – some brands require more or less water. So if it doesn’t work out initially, play around with the water level.

As for the other functions, I couldn’t care less so I can’t comment on it. I intend to only use this for cooking rice – that’s it. The “Keep Warm” function works really well – the rice doesn’t have a funny smell the next morning. It does take up more footprint than necessary for a 5.5-cup cooker because it is elongated. It is however, shorter than the traditional models – easy to open the lid if you have short cabinets – so I guess it works for me.
