Another reviewer mentioned this mug getting too hot to hold if microwaved, and I suppose he may be right. As a HUGE fan of loose-leaf tea, it is very rare for me to microwave water for my tea. I have a kettle I use to pour the hot water over the loose leaf tea in the strainer- it’s much easier to get an accurate temperature on the water this way. For quick microwave days, I would grab a plastic travel mug for my tea before I’d take the time to use something like this. Then again, if I was in that much of a rush, I’d probably use some bagged tea, too.
The mug is a porcelain or porcelain-type material- beautiful, strong, and good quality, and the top and strainer both fit well, and are very functional and easy to clean. I own several varieties of tea strainers and makers, and I have to say, this is ABSOLUTELY the most low-drama, easy-to-use means of brewing tea that I have come across so far.
This can be taken on the road with you, it’s durable enough to withstand bumps on the road, but isn’t made of a material you would want rolling around on your floorboards, either. It’s pretty, functional and overall durable. I highly recommend this!!!

I bought these because I recently got into loose leaf tea and drink a lot of tea at work. This cup is PERFECT. The lid functions as a holder for the steeper and it also keeps my tea hot/warm while it’s steeping. It’s super easy to clean up and is a great gift for any tea lover. I loved mine so much I bought 3 for friends who all enjoy them also. Very nice buy!

Not practical for most teas., February 6, 2015

Two huge problems. The biggest is the infuser basket. It’s far, far too shallow. Out of all the products I own, this is the shallowest basket, and comes with the tallest cup. For any type of tea I have ever brewed, for the amount of water you would need to pour into the cup to reach the basket, the basket wouldn’t be able told all of the loose leaf tea after it’s expanded that would be required to brew properly. Oolong tea, Green tea, white tea, they all require far too much tea to water to use such a shallow basket.

The other issue is the heat. It’s not double walled. It’s just a mug, with no handle. It will burn the crap out of you.

The positive is that it’s really pretty. All of the items in this line are very attractive.
